The Stable 2004

Windermere Remember Me. Click for larger pictureIn 2001 the Stud moved to Waipawa, with Windermere Remember Me as resident stallion. The 19.5 ha property was one large paddock with no buildings, fences, water or power. We now have a large stable complex with pens, vet box, wash down, and so on. There is also a dressage area and a lunging arena which is also used for serving mares.

There are stallion paddocks with night pens, good sized paddocks for mares, as well as small paddocks to run mares with foals away from dry mares. The fencing is being improved all the time. Post and top rails are used on many. All fences are electric. There is good water supply in all areas.

The entrance is attractive, with a long drive planted with trees and a wind shelter, leading to the stable complex which has a large turn around for very big trucks. The property is being improved on an ongoing never-ending plan. With more pens, small areas close to the stable are under way, and a large set of yards just off the drive.

As well as horses, we rear calves, running them through to 2 year old cattle. Make quality hay and balage which is used for stock as well as sold. Hens are bred: Rhode Island Reds, Anconas and Australorps. There are a few pigs for breeding. These are sold at about 6-8 weeks. Oh! and of course best friend and buddy, Pearly, an American Staffordshire Terrier.
